Explore walking in Corfu with Involved Holidays
Experience the ultimate walking holiday in Corfu, a stunning island where natural beauty, rich history, and vibrant culture come together to create an unforgettable adventure. Staying at the luxurious Four-Star Hotel Elea Beach, located in the charming town of Dassia, you’ll enjoy the perfect blend of comfort, relaxation, and scenic splendour. This modern hotel offers everything you need for a rejuvenating stay, from beautifully appointed rooms and top-notch amenities, to its lush gardens and inviting pools. After breakfast embark on carefully curated walking tours that showcase the very best of Corfu. Start by exploring the historic Corfu Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where you’ll wander through narrow cobbled streets lined with Venetian architecture, discover hidden courtyards, and visit iconic landmarks such as the Old Fortress and St. Spyridon Church.
Afterwards your guide will lead you to fascinating Mon Repos Palace. The last British Governor, Sir Arthur Adams, built the Mon Repos Palace, formerly used by the Greek Royal Family as a summer palace. The museum houses findings from archeological sites and some of the rooms have been restored to their former Regency style. It is interesting to note that Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, was born in the palace.
Next, you shall have the chance to venture into the untouched beauty of the Erimitis region on the island’s northeastern coast, where rugged coastal paths lead you through pristine landscapes, past secluded bays, and towards panoramic vistas that will leave you in awe. Erimitis has a landscape of unparalleled natural beauty and is a clear example of authentic Corfiot nature. As opposed to many other parts of the island, it stands out for its vegetation because, back in time, the Venetians did not interfere with the natural flora by cultivating olive groves. The need to preserve the natural landscape and ecosystem is therefore so much greater. Its ecological value and its vital biodiversity is a shelter for many rare animals and birds, and is an important wetland system with the Antiniotis lagoon and the Vouthroto wetland. More specifically, the Erimitis is also home to the endangered Mediterranean seal, the rhino dolphin and the whirlpool or otter.
You shall be given the option of joining an excursion to Paxos and Antipaxos, with white-sanded beaches and scenery that makes it an artist’s paradise, with clear aquamarine sea and beaches that have to be seen to be believed. Behind them stretch grove upon grove of centuries-old olive trees, dense vineyards and untamed nature spilling down to the water’s edge.
Finally, journey to the picturesque Paleokastritsa, renowned for its dramatic cliffs, emerald waters, and the serene Theotokos Monastery perched high above the sea. As you hike through olive groves and cypress forests, you’ll be captivated by the breathtaking views at every turn, culminating in a descent to one of the island’s most beautiful beaches, where you can relax and soak in the sun. Throughout your holiday, return to the comfort and elegance of the Elea Beach Hotel, where the warm hospitality, delicious local cuisine, and tranquil surroundings ensure that each evening is as delightful as your daytime explorations. Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or simply looking for a unique way to experience Corfu’s charm, this walking holiday offers a perfect mix of adventure, culture, and relaxation, leaving you with memories of an enchanting island escape that will last a lifetime.

Day Two – Walk 1 – Corfu Old Town and Mon Repos Walk
After breakfast, you will take a transfer to Corfu town. Best seen on foot, the old town is a mixture of the medieval and the modern. The Old and New Fortresses bear the insignia of the Venetian Republic. Your guide will lead you through the narrow streets and alleys of the old town, and on to the Esplanade, planted with palms and eucalyptus by the French. During the walk you will see the British cricket pitch, and the Palace of St. Michael and St. George, now a museum but once home to Corfu’s British rulers. Continuing along the sea-front promenade towards the south end of the town, you soon arrive at the gardens of Mon Repos with sweeping views of the sea which form the background to beautiful gardens filled with plants and rare trees, as well as ancient Greek temples and the remains of a Roman town. After your walk through the lush vegetation of the gardens of Mon Repos, you board the coach and take a short drive to see Pontikonisi (the famous mouse island), and then take the return transfer back to the hotel. 5 Miles, 60m Ascent/Descent.
Day Three – Free day in resort
Free day in resort.
Day Four – Walk 2 – Erimitis Walk
Today you will be heading to the north-eastern tip of Corfu island, and the region or Erimitis. This is an unspoiled area, listed in the program “Natura” as a protected forest. With your guide, you will dropped off by the coach at the beach of Avlaki and follow a path that goes partly through the forest and partly along the magnificent coastline, passing by several beautiful beaches, through Agios Stefanos, Kerasia and the small harbour of Kouloura. Your walk will finish at Kalami bay, where there will be some free time for a swim, before taking the road back to your hotel. 4 Miles, 40m Ascent/Descent.
Day Five – Free Day in resort or optional excursion to Paxos and Antipaxos
Free day in resort or why not join an optional excursion to Paxos and Antipaxos. One of the least commercial Greek Islands in the Ionian sea, Paxos (or Paxi) is truly beautiful. The island is only 7 miles by 3 and can easily be explored by foot, bike, car or boat. Unspoiled by mass tourism, you will moor into Lakka, a traditional village suitable for those who seek peace and tranquility. You can enjoy the amenities of Lakka or walk around the surrounding area to explore some of the hidden gems closeby, before sailing to Antipaxos (also known as Antipaxi) which lies a 15-minute boat ride south of Paxos (or Paxi), hence its name: Anti means opposite. This island is just 4km long and 3km wide and has around 30 full time residents, four tavernas and a handful of villas. Away from the beaches, donkey tracks wind between orchards and small vineyards that produce a popular red wine. Its Caribbean-style white sand beaches and turquoise sea make it a popular destination for day trips and yachts sailing in the Ionian. Here, you will have the opportunity to swim in the crystal waters of “Paradise beach” (Voutoumi). Our excursion returns once again to Paxos from the east side of the island and you can see the small islands of Skaltsonisi and Mongonisi, the picturesque port of Gaios village and the two small islands of Panagia and Agios Nikolaos.
Day Six – Walk 3 – Giannades to Paleokastritsa
This morning, you begin by travelling by coach to the western side of Corfu. Your coach will drop you off at the village of Giannades or the village of Kanakades. The walk will begin from here, through century old olive groves, towards the area of Liapades village. Your guide will lead you on a path to see the breathtaking views of the rocky western coast, continuing towards the beach of Iliodoros. You will have the chance to take a swim whilst waiting for the small boat that will pick you up, for a short boat ride to Paleokastritsa. There will be free time in Paleokastritsa to enjoy a lunch in one of the local taverns, or take a hike up to the monastery. Known to have some of the best beaches on the island, Paleokastritsa is a hidden gem on Corfu’s west coast. On land, expect whitewashed buildings and lush green landscapes. Later in the afternoon, your coach will pick you up to return you to your hotel. 5 Miles, 130m Ascent/290m Descent.
